Here's the Victorian Christmas Frame, Faby Reilly's depiction in cross stitch of a traditional Christmas, complete with vintage toys, a roaring fire in a brick chimney place and a candle lit Christmas tree. Forming a frame around the central Christmas scene, in red cross stitch, are many words evocative of the season.

 

The details of the stitching are particularly interesting such as the candy canes hanging from the mantel piece which are worked in couching stitch in a combination of red and white Pearl cotton. The pram wheels and many other parts of the central piece are beautifully executed in various stitches.

 

The whole piece is embellished with sequins and matellic threads as well as large variety of specialty stitches, including:

Couching stitch
Diamond, Fan and Round Eyelet stitches
French Knot
Lazy Daisy stitch
Ribbed Spider Web stitch
Triple Cross-stitch
