Snowdrop biscornu
CROSS STITCH PATTERN READY TO DOWNLOAD, DESIGNED BY Faby Reilly Designs
When the very first snowdrops appear, an early sign that spring is on the way, our hearts bound are filled with joy.
The tiny flowers are full of contrast, strong enough to pierce through the ground in the midst of winter, yet fine and fragile, with heavy white petals hanging towards the ground, as if they were exhausted with the effort. Here is Faby Reilly's exquisite rendering of the flowers in needlework, they look so real you would think they came straight from the garden.
The design comes in 3 versions. This is the biscornu, that can be used as a pin cushion. There is also a Needlebook and a Scissor case in the same series. Both are sold separately (see below). Together they will form a very attractive collection of needlework accessories, which you can keep for yourself or gift to a friend.
The biscornu is an interesting shape, where two identical pieces of square fabric are stitched the slip stitched together along a line of backstitch. This biscornu is mostly stitched on the main side. However a different design appears on the reverse so that the design is continuous when the biscornu is seen on the side where all the angles meet (see right).
The chart includes some specially stitches, with decorative eyelets combined with sequins, as well as white bead embellishments. There are some metallic highlights using DMC Diamant silver thread
A tutorial is included with the chart for all specialty stitches and there are very detailed mounting instructions guiding you through the process and finishing touches of making the biscornu.
