Part of the Masterclass* program by Faby Reilly, this pattern focuses - as you will have guessed - on the couching stitch.The specialty stitch is used with two different threads that are applied on the surface of the stitched area, providing extra volume: First the Kreinik Japan thread, a smooth golden thread of medium thickness, and second, the Pearl Purl thread, a wire that is wound into a tight coil which looks like tiny gold pearls. Once you have completed your cross stitch base, these threads will be used to create the outlines of the Christmas Tree,  as well as figure the garlands winding all around. Extra sequins and seed beads are also used to further embellish the tree, which is topped with a golden star.

Note: you will need special scissors to cut these metal threads. Do not use your embroidery scissors, they would be ruined!

The user-friendly chart comes in two-steps, first the cross stitch, then all additional stitches - all with excellent step-by-step tutorials and hints. The couching stitch will have no secret for you once you have stitched this pretty design.

The chart also includes tips for framing. Minimum size frame is 7 x 4 inch (18 cm x 10cm). You can also mount the piece in the center of a rectangular cushion.
