Always inspired, Barbara Ana's magic needle travels across space and time. Here she reappears as eleven-year old Henrietta Goodrich, practicing her stitches and getting bolder as she gathers confidence, proudly signing her name as she reaches the end of her work.

 

There are two charming verses which are stitched in tent-stitch, over one thread:

 

"Be you to others kind and true

As you'd have others be to you"

 

"And never do nor say to men

Whate'er you would not take again"

 

The piece is stitched in a beautiful palette of warm overdyed colours combining Valdani, Sampler threads and DMC embroidery floss.
