Have you ever tried these very special threads? Here's some information about using these threads for cross stitch projects.

Fluorescent floss is made out of a special textile fiber that captures light in a special way. The original fluorescent color is somewhere between yellow and green and this is why those are the most common colors offered in fluorescent ranges whatever the material (such as highlighters). Other colors can be added, but they are dyed variations of the initial color and somewhat loose their fluorescent effect.

Developped in the past few years by DMC in a 6-strand floss presentation these threads offer brand new possibilities for cross stitch designers as well as for cross stitchers who want to substitute thread colors to enhance parts of their work.

New inspiration for designer 

Since the threads became available, designers have been exploring new possibilities in cross stitch design.

The punchy, high-impact yellow and green colors work particularly well on a dark background, especially deep black Aida fabric.

Certain themes are particularly suitable for using these threads (remember you can easily substitute thread colors for texts and names). Fluorescent colors work very well for Halloween patterns (those green-eyed cats!).

Product information:
To distinguish them from the regular DMC floss range, all the specialty floss prducts carry a letter in front of the color number. In this case "E" (for Light effects).
